Pigeon Talk:

Byron and I teamed up this time for young birds. We don't agree on everything, but we are still having fun! I have assumed the duty of training due to Byron's work schedule. It has been more fun than I thought it would be. I can't tell you how many times I have passed up my release points. Ha! Ha! Once I even jumped our youngest team up 10 miles by accident. I got caught up in a good song and lost track. Thankfully, the birds were smarter than me and found their way home in good time. I guess that we're learning together.

What I Learned: I learned that people are willing to learn about pigeons!

Lately, I have been handing out so many Au brochures mostly on training tosses. I have someone ask about what I am doing every time . I love the rest areas the most. There are lots of tourist, truckers, and field trip buses that visit. The security guard also stays close by. This is important to me while training. I go where I feel safe and where the birds are safe for release.
I have been taking every opportunity to promote our sport. Recently, I had my first pigeon presentation at my twin's elementary school. The children were so amazed. The teacher was so excited that she asked the children to visit the Au website and our website as a homework assignment. This adds up to 21 sets of parents being introduce to racing homing pigeons. My next presentation will be for the cub scouts.

Featured Feathers: This monster pigeon is pure muscle and has the eyes of an owl. "Hoot" is a serious pigeon. His parents are two of our Elite breeders....Sure Pic and Sheba. His bloodline includes such famous birds as Golden Mattens, Cinderella, Sure Bet, Hofkens Best, and Gaby 600. Hoot's parents were purchased from David Scott of Crosslanders. He is a real super and his sister is also doing well for us in the races.

Byron and I will give the children and their parents a tour of the loft and help them to make bird houses afterwards. I am so excited about the responses from people. They are truly amazed and I am thrilled to brag on these outstanding athletes! Happy Flying and Talk Pigeon wherever you go!
