FEATURED FEATHERS:
"MILTON" AU 08 Williams Family Loft 14
This outstanding looking pigeon is
"Milton" named after one of my co-workers who thought that this bird fit
his personality. Although it is too early to tell what this racer will
do, I know that he has a love for his home. His sire is "Conair" a
grandson of famous birds such as...President, Aviator, Sterling, and
Golden Breeder. "Conair" has already bred two shining stars for us.
"744" placed 6th= 1st in a 100m. vs. 425b. and ""723" 11th / 100m
vs.425b.. Milton's dam is "Geisha" a solid white hen purchased from
Necaise Family Loft. The "Laura Whites" are known to do very well in the
races. "Geisha" is a Gordon/Stichelbaut cross. Her sire produced a White
Champion who was 1st in a 350m. and 2nd in a 150m. This is the first
time we have put this pair together so we are anxious to see how their
youngsters will do.
PIGEON TALK:
I'm sure that everyone has noticed the rising costs of just about
everything. Pigeon racing has not dodged the bullet. In these parts feed has
gone up from $23.00 to $30.00 a bag and training costs are incredible....but
still we find a way to fly our birds. In times like these, its important to
look out for each other. With a little creativity and hard work, we can make
things happen. One thing that has helped so many clubs and combines cut down
on costs is getting feed imported. You would be surprised at how much money
you can save if you have enough feed orders to warrant a shipment. If you
would like more information on importing feed or ideas on Fund raisers,
email me and I will be happy to give out some information. Its important to
keep flyers flying!!!!
WHAT I LEARNED:
I learned that being present with my birds is important. I loft fly
our birds every morning and so far I have not had to deal with
Hawks. I actually expected them to come in September. Well, they
have come in July. One particular morning while flying our son's
team...I had a surprise visitor. I was sitting down in my chair like
I always do next to the loft. I was happy when the birds started to
land after 50 minutes of flying because it was starting to get hot.
As soon as they started to land a hawk came down on a little Blue
Bar only two feet away from me. I swear I jumped out of that chair
like Super Woman and screamed that hawk away. That poor little bird
lost a few feathers, flew under the loft and back into the air. The
good news is that the bird escaped unharmed. If I ever doubted that
my staying out with my birds for hours in the morning was useless,
this confirmed for me, that moma's presence is important.
