PIGEON TALK...

Love is in the air at :The Grand Palms Pigeon Resort." I'm a little afraid to have company over because of it. Our birds want to mate everywhere. Some I thought were too young for that! They'll even hop (Byron's term) on the top of the roof and pop off and fly! Byron thinks its funny. One of our twins, Brandon witnessed this love fest and described it in his terms. Here's the scene. A couple of birds were kissing on the landing board and Brandon says, "Their Kissing." Then the cock hopped the hen and Brandon says, "Now, their having a piggy back ride." Don't you love it when kids just explain things so easily? Just thought I'd share a funny moment with you.

WHAT I'VE LEARNED...

I learned that no matter what birds our birds find in the sky to fly with, the smart ones are coming home. Byron brought the birds out for a short toss. Ten minutes later after he had released the birds, I noticed a huge flock of birds coming over. Our birds hooked up with other birds in training. When they flew over our oak tree, they broke and our birds came right home. It was amazing. I guess that's why they're called homing pigeons. A great pigeon fancier in Canada told me recently that there are great pigeons but that it is up to me to bring out the best in the great pigeons. He told me that the more time I spend with my pigeons the more that I'll get out of them and they'll be flying home to me.

"Wish Granted" is my Gaby Baby. I called Mr. Ganus (that's what I call him), and said, " I want a Gaby Baby." He replied by asking, "So, you want a Gaby Baby?" At that point, I left it up to him to pick me out a Gaby Vandenabeele cock and boy did I get a surprise! This is an outstanding, first class, everybody here wants kind of bird. In fact, my husband and his best friend keep trying to get me to hand over my bird. It will never happen. He has too much charm and personality, This bird is so special, you will just have to wait until breeding season to find out more about this "Wish Granted." Thank you, Mr. Mike Ganus.
