PIGEON TALK:

Do you ever wonder if there is a Bermuda Triangle in the sky when your birds are missing. Smash races are major headaches for flyers, but when you start trapping birds from another state, it all starts to make sense in some instances. Recently, we trapped an out of state bird and quickly contacted the club secretary. Because of the way these guys train and race, he knew that their birds must have gotten caught up with our flock of race birds. I think that he is right. We communicate every week on race stations and release times. Its amazing how something so simple as communication can make such a difference for us and our birds.

WHAT I LEARNED

I learned that winning is great, but its even better when your kids get part of the action. We just have to brag on our twins who fly under the title, "Poppie & Peanut Loft". They had to wait until the 3rd week to put their birds in the races. Well...these youngster's 1st race was a 200 mile race and they beat us good. To see our son spot that bird coming out of the sky way before we all did was a joy to behold. When that bird landed and it was his.....well , lets just say that he has victory dance like his mama. In this past 300 mile race we were in it together. We were 1st and Poppie & Peanut were 3rd and 4th. If they catch this pigeon racing fever that never goes away...I am sure that I will have to counsel their potential wives in the future to let them know what they are getting into. Happy Flying~
