FEATURED FEATHERS:

"DEONE" AU 07 TEAM 627 - This beauty is directly from Dr. John Lamberton - Team Lofts located in Tulsa,Oklahoma. This man has great birds! "Deone" is named after the AU sport development manager. This hen was headed to the Lamberton stock loft. Fortunately, we had an opportunity to snatch her and make Louisiana her home. Her sire is "890" one of his best Jacops import breeders. Her dam. "627" was bred for stock. She is a wonderful mix of some of the best pigeons including Hercules, Playboy (Meuleman-Vanden Bosch janssen cross), Phantom and Golden Witten. With all that, how could we not have her in our breeding loft. Deone is sure to breed us some winners!!!

PIGEON TALK:

You can just tell that race season is near. My husband should have been a telephone booth. The phones are non stop. Everyone is geared up and ready for the fight for the skies and of course the bragging rights!! And you know that there are always the chosen few that everyone wants to beat. I laugh because you could swear that we are all racing for millions of dollars. But this is the very reason that we are all insane about this very addictive sport, we all want to win!!

WHAT I LEARNED

Its important to keep things in perspective. Our club has adopted the motto: Competiton is for testing... birds not relationships. I believe that in this sport sometimes people really get fired up because they want respect and recognition...I think even more than winning. The truth is...the birds cannot get that for us...the way we treat people and who we are, will.

P.S.  I am a Louisiana girl 100% and am loyal to the Saints, but I love the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have named my hen team, "The Steel Hens" and I'm hoping that they are like the Troy Palomalo's of the sky this season. Byron's boys are looking pretty sharp too, but he doesn't give them special names.
