FEATURED FEATHERS: "CROSSLANDER" - 07 CBL 454 BC

This hen holds a lot of promise for Williams Family Loft. She is an inbred granddaughter of "1245". Her mother "Young Witstaart" is known as the hen who lays golden eggs. "Young Witstaart" is the mother of many foundation breeders who have all bred 1st Ace Birds. Dave Scott notes that only one child was raced off of "Young Witstaart" and it won 1st vs 1,202 young birds. We were flying "Crosslander's" youngsters this year. She is mated to "KV-31" a full brother of our notorious producer "KV-30". I suspect that we may have some new superstars!!!

PIGEON TALK: Most people try to set up their lives in a way that if they pass on, the family left behind is taken care of. Some will write wills and rely on insurance policies to cover costs. Although it can never ease the pain of losing someone you love, it can grant you some peace of mind. These things are just a given when it comes to your family.  Well, how about the spoken wills of pigeon people? What will happen to the birds when we are gone? We have had three close friends tell Byron that he is to inherit their birds if something would happen to them. When these things are said, you gladly accept it without ever thinking that you will experience it. Well it has happened.  Recently, we lost a dear friend of our family and in the pigeon sport. His passing is very hard on us, but we also have assumed the responsibility of making decisions about his birds. It is not something you take lightly because you must always consider what they would have wanted. I asked Byron to take his time in his decisions and consider Charles in all of them. After all, we would want the same thing for our birds.

WHAT I LEARNED: I can always tell when people have healthy pigeons......... the fanciers at the club are all wearing the same powder white spot on their shirts. Ha Ha. Got bloom?

In Memory of our friend Charles Johnson...

You were always there for us and so many others!!! You have truly earned your wings.
