FEATURED FEATHERS: A SUPER SURE BET PAIR FROM THE LOFT OF VICTOR VALENZUELA
"Mr. V." AU 08 LOS MAMB 722 BB Cock and "Mrs. V." AU 08 LOS MAMB 772 Bc Hen -
What a super pair from a super guy!!! First class pigeons from a first class fancier and loft.
One night, I opened up Victor's website www.surebetloft.com and saw what I like to describe as a Grand Palms Pigeon Resort. I loved his set up, loved his website, and of course loved his personal story and how he acquired Sure Bet. After contacting him by email to compliment his website, I received a call the next morning. The one morning, I was able to stay in bed passed 9:00, my phone rang and woke me up. I heard the message. It was a man with a deep voice and when he introduced himself as Victor Valenzuela, I was afraid to pick up the phone. Ha. Ha. I ran in the loft..still in my pjs and told Byron that Victor Valenzuela called for me. I thought that he might want to offer us some of the $10,000.00 birds he sells. I would be embarrassed to say that we couldn't if he did. Anyway, Byron told me to call him. Well, I prayed and then I called. Victor made me feel like I had won the lottery!!! He wanted to send me a couple of birds. He does that sometimes, but I felt like I couldn't have had better luck that day. He is one of the nicest , most open hearted people you could ever speak with. I think he is a perfect example of how God works to bless people who remember where they came from and never forget the people he meets on the way to where he is going. We are so grateful to Victor for his kindness. The words he spoke to me I will never forget and the one sentence that really stuck was: "I just want you to win"!!!!
Having someone like
Victor rooting for you, how can we not?
To Victor: We pray you continued success in all of your ventures!
PIGEON TALK: I thought that since this month holds a special Holiday such as labor day, I would dedicate this segment to the special people who work hard at this sport in some way or another. For instance, our club. Our club members make me so proud because of the way that we pull together to make things happen, not only for ourselves, but also for other clubs. Just recently we had a feed order come in that had a total of 265 bags of feed. My husband and a few other guys faithfully show up every six weeks to pass out this feed. We do not tack on an additional fee to do this. Some people may think that we are crazy, but we think we are helping flyers beat the increasing costs of feed. When you think of saving approximately $10.00 per bag of feed having it imported...its just mind boggling. My honey is the youngest member of our club, so much of the physical work is done by him. I just want to give him a shout of praise for his hard work. And a thanks to the others who help him.

WHAT I
LEARNED: I learned in this sport that there is a
lot of secrets kept. I am entertained frequently by some of the
things these guys do. Maybe its the reason why there is a great
hesitation about having women in the sport. Let me explain. For
some reason, it is a big deal to not give out too much
information on your training routes, the frequency of training,
and how your birds are really doing. I'm not saying that
fanciers lie about these things, but I do know that if someone
asks my husband something and then asks me, well, lets just
say...we may have a different point of view. I am sorry, but my
husband is not alone. I have heard inaccurate times of arrival
for birds, there have been times where everyone is calling
everyone and other times, there is much silence. I have to laugh
because I may be the one to always tell the truth...only because
I don't think that things are such a big deal. However, to keep
my longevity in this sport, I have learned to just say..."You
will have to ask Byron about that". Still learning I guess. Ha.
