PIGEON TALK...
Pedigree or No Pedigree, that is the question? I personally like paperwork on all of my birds if possible. I know that all do not agree, but I believe it all comes down to the difference between breeder fanciers and flyer fanciers. Most of us are both, but we all lean more to one side. I tend to enjoy breeding more and look at putting birds together like putting a puzzle together, so pedigree paperwork is important, fascinating and entertaining to me. My husband on the other hand, the race king in this family could care less about paperwork. The only paperwork he wants to see is his birds on the top ten of the race sheets and then he'll look at the pedigrees. I agree with that too, but I tell my racing honey that the buck starts with me. When we breed those "CRACKS" we're going to want to know where they're coming from!
WHAT I'VE LEARNED...
I learned that you have got to master the molt to compete. Sending your birds out without all of their feathers is like sending them to war without their equipment. They can be healthy, well fed, and loved with a great homing ability, but without those feathers they will not perform at their maximum potential. When nature says to molt, they will molt right in time for the race season to start in Louisiana. Unfortunately for us, we will be a couple of weeks behind and that's just not good for someone who likes to compete, but we have good sense and take good care of our birds, so we'll wait. Next year we will not have this molt situation because we already have a plan!

This super DEVRIENDT cock's Sire is a 300 mile Mountain Man Futurity Idaho 1st place winner and his Dam is a Champion YB 2002 YB's Digest Ace Pigeon. 1st 360 miles. Not only is he special because he is from winners, but also because Thomas Baldwin in North Carolina had a heart to give us 4 of his best DEVRIENDT birds including this one. This line is a new and unexpected addition to our long distance lines and what a blessing it is.
Thank you Thomas.
